Padel shoes are designed specifically for the movement patterns of padel, which include quick lateral steps and frequent direction changes. They offer a reinforced sole with grip adapted to all court types — including synthetic grass, resin surfaces, and porous concrete — plus the stability and ankle support needed to prevent injury during fast-paced play.

While some players use tennis shoes, running shoes, or general trainers when starting out, these aren’t ideal for padel. Running shoes are built for forward motion and lack the lateral support needed for quick side-to-side movements, increasing the risk of injury. Tennis shoes offer better stability but may not provide the same grip or cushioning optimized for padel surfaces.
